Porro: A Legacy of Italian Design

Porro, an Italian furniture brand established in 1925 in Brianza, has been a hallmark of elegance and quality for nearly a century. Initially a small workshop producing chairs, the company has grown into a renowned manufacturer of furniture and accessories, characterized by refined lines and exquisite craftsmanship that honor the Italian artisanal tradition.

Timeless Style and Attention to Detail

Porro's collections embody a minimalistic and essential aesthetic, evident in each piece. The brand focuses on simplifying lines to create furniture that fits seamlessly into any elegant space, whether residential or commercial. Their extensive product range includes wardrobes, bookshelves, and tables, alongside notable upholstered pieces like sofas and armchairs. Each item reflects a commitment to sophistication and innovation, with a variety of options for home decor, such as rugs, wall paneling, and mobile walls.

A Century of Craftsmanship

The Porro story began in 1925 when brothers Giulio and Stefano established their design workshop in Montesolaro di Carimate, aiming to create solutions for the affluent Milanese market. The company quickly gained recognition and passed into the hands of the second generation in the 1950s, led by Carlo, Arturo, and Silvio. During this time, they collaborated with architect Giulio Moscatelli to expand their production facility.

In the 1960s, Porro adapted to socio-economic changes by launching a new production site and collaborating with influential designers, such as Bruno Munari, who created the iconic Cubovo serving trolley. The 1980s marked the third generation's rise, placing greater emphasis on design, leading to the creation of the Ferro table in 1994—now a hallmark of the brand.

Global Reach and Recognition

Porro's commitment to innovation and collaboration has driven its international expansion, partnering with designers like Werner Aisslinger and Jean-Marie Massaud. Today, exports account for half of Porro's revenue, with over 100 employees and 600 points of sale worldwide.

The brand's prestige is further validated by numerous awards, including the Elle Decor International Design Awards (EDIDA) for the Gentle chair (2013) and Mikado sideboard (2014). Porro continues to blend tradition with modernity, setting the standard for quality Italian design.
