Founded as a textile company in 1982 in Cessalto, in the Treviso area, Twils – the acronym of Tiziano, Wilma, Luisella, Simone, the founder’s sons and the second generation to manage the company – is today renowned as a brand that produces beds, upholstered textile beds, accessories and bed linen. Together with the Twils Lounge division, the company has since 2016 also entered the world of furniture for the living area with an array of sofas, armchairs and furniture complements. Both furniture propositions by Twils put an accent on the “short chain”, the prominence of raw materials Made in Italy that are also natural and recyclable and handmade manufacturing. Functionality, aesthetic research and care for design are the qualities that run throughout the whole production spanning from the three hundred Twils furniture configurations (suitable to be customized with over four hundred covering fabrics), to the two hundred variants of bed linen and two hundreds accessories options.
Twils beds: custom-made and author-signed
The beds from the Twils Design Collection, a premium product from the brand, bring together the expertise of Twils R&D Team and the hand of famed designers such as Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, who, together with Matteo Bollati and Stefano Contini, signed the Sail bed awarded the Archiproducts Design Award 2020. This is a double bed with a dry trait, distinguished by the tall and slender, slightly curved headboard and by the metal details featured in the frame. There are other two models that share the relevance of the textile components with the Sail bed and which also carry the signature of the duo of architects from Milan. It is the case, in the first place of De-Light, a design bed with generous proportions highlighted by the oversize headboard, drew as a large parenthesis that delimits a private space for resting; secondly, the James bed that can be centrally positioned in a room, which headboard features four squares enclosed in a large textile frame is the result of a skilled sartorial work.
“Our project for Twils” - the two designers told Archiproducts on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2019 - “ stems from the will to conjugate a precise idea of well being and comfort with a defined aesthetics that is rigorous and light. De-Light, Sail and James speak the same language declined in the proportions and the details. The textile component delineates the character and the silhouette of the models which play a protagonist role and resonate with the great tradition of the brand. The neat, cosmopolitan and contemporary style is a common trait that unites the three beds and distinguishes them for the different mark given to the heights and volumes, always soft and inviting.”
The proposition for the night area is completed by Programmi Twils, a wide a versatile range of modular solutions enabling to compose single beds in an extremely personal way with the linen and the line of bed bases with slats and mattresses in memory foam, latex or orthopedic or with pocket springs, all produced using the best technologies and raw materials.
Twils Lounge, a sartorial idea of the living area
The sartorial approach that characterizes Twils beds is also reflected in the proposition of upholstery for the living area distributed by the Twils Lounge division, born out of the will to shape a “Twils home”. In this case too modularity is a precious resource enabling to find out solutions that can meet different needs and be customized thanks to the choice of Twils textiles. Since autumn 2020 this division has benefited from Matteo Ragni’s Art Direction which has defined the positioning of the living section of Twils, summarized in the Better Living collection. The intention is to propose sofas and armchairs manufactured with sartorial and technological care, that have a long lifetime and thought to elegantly and gently integrate in the home environment. Among the first products designed by Ragni there is the T-Time modular system, the acronym of Twils Timeless. These are sofas with squared lines and pronounced volumes, resting on T-shaped metal supports and made with fully recyclable and sustainable materials.
