FIAM: The Pioneer of Curved Glass Furniture

Founded by Vittorio Livi in 1973, FIAM designs, develops, and produces curved glass furniture, combining artisanal craftsmanship with industrial processes. This seamless blend of tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and design, has established FIAM as a leader in the industry.

Livi developed a fascination for glass at a young age, intrigued by its apparent contradictions: solid yet fragile, natural yet artificial, ancient yet industrial. He admired this material for its duality as well as its ecological and hygienic properties. Although glass appears simple due to its transparency, its chemistry and physics are incredibly complex. Despite its vast potential, glass was mostly used in furniture design for small accessories or decorative objects.

Vittorio Livi’s dream was to elevate glass to a central role in the world of refined design, using it to create furniture that was both sturdy and delicate, functional yet visually striking. His vision was to produce design pieces that would transcend time, remaining relevant and enduring regardless of changing styles, spaces, and trends.
