The shape of the chair, and particularly the armrests, is inspired by the mating dance of male ostriches –banjooli in the Wolof language- who stretch out their wings to show off their beauty to the female.
Modou is the name that Ron Arad chose for his collection: dynamic and cinematic just like a futuristic bolide, as a homage to the metalworker Modou, that worked with him in Dakar.
The collection has been made using woven threads normally used for fishing nets, the designs are all different and original, like their names. Handwoven,they are human in their imperfections and flaws.
