Founded in 1969 in Como by Luigi and Renata Bestetti, Living Divani has established itself as a leader in indoor and outdoor furniture design. From its early days, when the founders took over a Milan-based workshop specializing in upholstered furniture, the company distinguished itself for its forward-thinking design approach. After a successful partnership with Roche Bobois, expanding into the French and Canadian markets, a pivotal moment came in the late 1980s with the appointment of Piero Lissoni as Art Director. His creative vision marked a turning point, propelling Living Divani into the ranks of internationally recognized Italian excellence as part of the Altagamma foundation.
Today, Living Divani offers a comprehensive range of furniture, from sofas and armchairs for the living area to tables and accessories like rugs, as well as bedroom and outdoor solutions. Each product is characterized by minimalist design and high-quality craftsmanship, blending traditional skills with modern innovation.
Living Divani initially gained prominence with its range of upholstered furniture, swiftly becoming a market leader. The collaboration with Piero Lissoni led to the creation of iconic pieces like the "Calibano" collection, which defined the sleek, innovative style of the 1990s. Another classic is the "Frog" armchair, launched in 1995 and still in production today, renowned for its steel frame and comfortable cushions. The collection has since expanded to include outdoor versions and innovative materials.
The modular "Wall" system, introduced in 2000, remains one of the brand’s bestsellers. With its simple lines and versatility, Wall allows for endless configurations, from sofas with chaise lounges to armchairs. Later evolutions like "Extra Wall" and "Extra Soft" offer even more customizable options.
In addition to upholstered furniture, Living Divani has expanded its catalog with chairs, tables, and accessories. The "Family Chairs" collection by Junya Ishigami, made of powder-coated steel, and the "Rabbit&The Tortoise" tables by Studio Juju, with their irregular shapes, exemplify the brand’s exploration of new design frontiers. For the bedroom, Lissoni has designed the "Floyd-Hi" bed, staying true to his minimalist aesthetic, while Stephen Burks introduced the "Islands" storage unit, featuring rotating slats that allow access from all sides.
Living Divani continues to expand its range of accessories, collaborating with emerging designers like Harry Paul and Mist-o, known for their vibrant rugs, and Keiji Takeuchi with his "Light With a Table" floor lamp. Each new project reinforces the brand’s commitment to combining functionality and beauty, while maintaining a strong connection to craftsmanship and innovation.
