Founded in 1921 by Milanese lawyer Paolo Venini and Venetian antiquarian Giacomo Cappellin, Venini S.p.A. has established itself as a hallmark of artistic glass, creating a timeless stylistic identity. Over the years, Venini has partnered with renowned artists such as Napoleone Martinuzzi and Carlo Scarpa, and in the post-war era, with figures like Gio Ponti and Fulvio Bianconi. Today, contemporary designers such as Tadao Ando and Ron Arad continue to innovate.
The production is divided into two main collections: Art Glass, featuring sculptural vases and decorative items, and Art Light, which showcases chandeliers and lighting installations for both public and private spaces.
Venini is distinguished by an unparalleled color palette, a result of time-honored techniques. The furnace can produce 125 different shades of glass, thanks to a highly specialized creative process. With 14 active furnaces operating simultaneously, the company provides artists with an unmatched palette.
Venini's objects, characterized by timeless design, tend to appreciate in value over time. The company’s creations have fetched record prices at auctions, such as the famous “La Sentinella di Venezia,” sold for $737,000.
Venini's works are part of permanent collections in prestigious museums, including the Metropolitan Museum and MOMA in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The Venini Museum houses an extensive collection of 45,000 drawings and 4,000 artworks, making it an invaluable archive for glass art.
Currently, Venini is owned by the Damiani family, known for its high jewelry brand, and aims to strengthen its position as a leader in the world of Italian craftsmanship.
